No shortage of interest in using Watertown’s Maas Ice Arena (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The future of the aging Maas Ice Arena in Watertown is still unknown, but there’s no shortage of groups that are interested in using it….

Mayor Ried Holien says he’s in no hurry to make a decision…..

There are mixed feelings on whether the city should continue to own it…..

Holien says county officials have also expressed an interest in using the building for larger events that are held at the adjacent County Extension Center–such as the Watertown Winter Farm Show.

The Maas became obsolete for hockey and figure skating groups with the recent opening of the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.
