WATERTOWN, S.D.–Pickleball has been one of the fastest-growing sports in the country in recent years, and it could get a big boost in Watertown tonight, depending on the outcome of a vote from the city council.

They’ll vote on a $526,280 bid to Timmons Construction of Brookings to build an eight-court facility just east of the Prairie Lakes Wellness Center that will also include perimeter fencing and a shade structure.

Timmons’ bid was 10-percent higher than the engineer’s estimate of $476,119.

The cost of building it would be split evenly between the Watertown Pickleball Association and the city.
